Challenge

Develop a wearable ear tag for cattle that communicates with the Chordata Biochip while continuously monitoring the animal’s behavioral data. This solution enables farmers, farmhands, veterinarians, and nutritionists to track herd biomarkers and behavioral activity in real time.

My Role

Head of Design

Purpose

Chordata collaborated with Alltech, farmers, veterinarians, and researchers to develop a wearable ear tag that allows farmers to monitor herd health, take appropriate action, and record their interventions. Designed to support effective collaboration among farming teams, the ear tag provides real-time data to inform the best decisions for both animal welfare and farm operations. It communicates with the Chordata biochip to collect behavioral data, offering a comprehensive analysis of herd health and well-being. The wearable was developed alongside the Health Sync app to ensure seamless integration and usability.

Challenge & Opportunity

Discover

Research conducted with Alltech, farmers, and veterinarians revealed a shared commitment to close collaboration for improving herd health and milk production, as well as a growing interest in adopting functional wearable technology within their herds.

Connect

Research conducted with Alltech, farmers, and veterinarians revealed a shared desire to collaborate closely to achieve optimal outcomes for herd health and milk production, along with a growing interest in implementing functional wearable technology within their herds.

Solve

Chordata Dairy helps farming teams gain valuable health insights at both the individual cow and herd group levels. The ear tag communicates with the biochip, which collects biomarker data and monitors each cow’s behavioral patterns. If an issue arises, the Ora Dairy app promptly alerts the farming team.
